Ladies Academy

We have an outstanding golf course and a very friendly ladies’ section. We would now like to encourage some more ladies to take up golf and join our Ladies’ Section. West Hill is therefore offering membership of its new Ladies Golf Academy from April 2011.

Academy membership will include:

~    Three courses of group lessons with a PGA Qualified Professional (each course consists of 8 one hour lessons) (e.g. April and May, June and July, September and October)

~    A Mentor will be provided by the ladies section.

~    Up to 24 nine-hole rounds of golf at non-peak times as agreed by the Professional - must be accompanied by one other handicapped golfing member of West Hill - initially their mentor and subject to approval to play the course by the Professional. (We now have blue tees set at suitable positions for novice golfers).

~    Use of the practice facilities

~    Booklet of guidelines including dress code, etiquette etc

~    Social use of the club and invitation where appropriate to ladies section social events.

~    A members’ bar card which affords our members discounts on the bar menu and beverages

During the Summer months the Ladies Section are intending to organise a number of Wednesday afternoon/evening playing sessions when Academy members will be invited to play with mentors/helpers from the Ladies Section – typically playing up to four holes with guidance being given on golf etiquette. During the winter on Wednesday evenings Academy Members may join in on visits to a local driving range (self funded) with volunteers from the Ladies’ Section.

Membership of the Academy will be for a maximum of two years at the end of which time academy members will be invited to apply to join the main Club (subject to attaining a reasonable standard of play), typically as a five day or seven day restricted member at the current subscription and at a transitional joining fee equivalent to half the current entrance fee to the Club. Any request for an earlier move to the main Club would be considered subject to playing ability. Any subsequent transfer to Unrestricted Membership would be subject to the usual conditions i.e. golfing ability.

Academy Members are not permitted to sign in guests unless at the express permission of the Secretary.

Cost of Academy Membership:        £500 per year plus £50 on a bar card
